Power*Tools for Windows Update

Although all major releases will continue to be released on CD-ROM, minor revisions will now be issued electronically. Self-extracting ZIP files can be downloaded from:

After making sure that the software isn't already running, simply extract the files into the program directory. Some of these files are self-extracting ZIP files (.EXE), and some are standard ZIP files (.ZIP). If your operating system can't uncompress ZIP files, then try a trial version of WinZip, or the free ExtractNow.

User name:
This is your product's serial number, followed by an underscore, followed by the first 5 characters of your postcode (in upper case letters). If you don't have a postcode, then just enter your serial number and an underscore. Make sure you include the space in your postcode as part of the user name, even if a space is the fifth character.

Password:
Your e-mail address (in lower case letters) is your password, unless we have informed you otherwise.

For example, if your product serial number is 1234, your postcode is AB99 1AB and your email address is joebloggs@example.com, enter:

UserName: 1234_AB99 [note that there is a space after the postcode]
Password: joebloggs@example.com

If you have problems entering the download site, try entering your postcode with a hyphen instead of the space (1234_AB99-), or with no separating character at all (1234_AB991).
