FAQs: Differences between Arc Flash and Comprehensive Studies
Both the Arc Flash and Comprehensive Studies produce short-circuit calculations for your PTW model. The Arc Flash module uses the same calculation methods as the Comprehensive short-circuit study module. There are two reasons why there might be a difference between the two results:
- The Arc Flash study always includes transformer taps, but the Comprehensive study can be set to ignore transformer taps.
- In the Arc Flash study module, there is the option to exclude motor contributions from motors less than 75hp. In the comprehensive module, there is the option to include or exclude all motor contributions.
In short, if both studies are set to include the effect of transformer taps and to include the effect of all motor contributions, then the results should match. If you continue to experience a mismatch, contact us.
